More details
A guide for 25 °C: a toddler (1–3 years) can wear t-shirt, shorts, sun hat, sunglasses. It assumes an ordinary walk with no rain and no strong wind. For a baby under three months: vest bodysuit, sun hat. For a child under one: vest bodysuit, sun hat. Children aged 3–6 move more, so this is enough: t-shirt, shorts, sun hat, sunglasses.
If it drops to 20 °C, add: trousers, cardigan, trainers. At 30 °C you no longer need: sun hat, sunglasses. If it rains, put on: raincoat, wellies. Put children’s sun cream on exposed skin.
Sandals or breathable shoes are more comfortable than closed trainers on hot days. Offer water often during a walk, even if your child does not ask for it. Light colours reflect the sun better than dark ones and keep a child cooler. In the heat, choose loose clothes made of cotton or linen: they let air through and dry quickly.
Feel the back of the neck: warm, dry skin means the layers are right. This is a guide, not medical advice.
