More details
A guide for 70°F: a toddler (1–3 years) can wear t-shirt, shorts, sun hat, sneakers. It assumes a normal walk with no rain and no strong wind. For a baby under three months: bodysuit, sun hat. For a child under one: bodysuit, sun hat, sneakers. Kids aged 3–6 move more, so this is enough: t-shirt, shorts, sun hat, sneakers.
If it drops to 60°F, add: long-sleeve top, pants, cardigan, light jacket, thin hat. At 80°F you no longer need: sneakers. If it rains, put on: raincoat, rain boots. A windy day calls for: light jacket. In bright sun, add: sunglasses. Apply kids’ sunscreen to exposed skin.
After a walk, wash off sweat and sunscreen and change into dry clothes. Leave a gap under the stroller sunshade: a dense cover traps hot air inside. Light colours reflect the sun better than dark ones and keep a child cooler.
Check the back of the neck: warm, dry skin means the layers are right. This is a guide, not medical advice.
